VISIT Malaysia Year 2014 will see the roaring of engines and cars zooming in Sepang International Circuit from March 28 to 30 as the country plays host to the second round of the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship.
This will also be the 16th edition of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix.
Fifty-eight grid girls have been chosen out of 230 models from all over Malaysia to walk alongside the biggest names in Formula 1 (F1).
One of them is Lisa Sari Lutgen.
The 20-year-old started her modelling career after being coaxed to go for castings.
“A friend of my mother’s told me to try it out and so I did,” she said.
The young woman of German and Malay parentage has been modelling for a year, including runway shows, photo shoots and a television commercial.
When asked what the TV commercial was, she laughed and said it was for a local beauty product.
Lisa only models part-time as she has her head focused on her studies.
She is currently taking up a course in International Communication in Film and Television along with Spanish language at a private institution.
Lisa relaxes after a day of studying and modelling by dancing and sketching.
This year will be her first time walking down the tarmac as a grid girl.
“I always wanted to go to a F1 race but never got the chance.
“So this time, I get to walk with the drivers,” she said.
She said being a model had its perks.
“It is not just being able to look good all the time but it
also trains your presentation and communication skills,” she said.
In the future, she hopes to be part of the media world as a TV hostess.
