PONTIAN: The Marine police has successfully thwarted an attempt of eight illegal immigrants to flee the country following a 20-minute boat chase off Pontian Kechil waters here.
Its Region Two commander Asst Comm Zainul Abidin Hasan said that a team of officers spotted the group of Indonesians in a fibre glass boat, speeding out of Pontian waters around 2am on Wednesday.
