Proud to be chosen: Vina says it is not easy to be a grid girl.
Visit Malaysia Year 2014 will see the roar of engines cars zooming in Sepang International Circuit from March 28-30 as we play host to the second round of the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship.
This will also be the 16th edition of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix.
Before we welcome drivers from all around the world, let’s meet some of the 2014 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix
grid girls who will share the tarmac with Formula 1’s biggest names.
F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix grid girl Vina Farhana is involved in a strange business — funerals.
She does it at a company called MD O Ramlee Mortician.
“Actually, it’s my fiance’s business, I help out. I just handle the documentation. I don’t arrange the funerals,” said the 18-year-old model.
“I feel queasy when it comes to the business of death. I can’t even handle horror movies,” she said in a squeamish tone.
What Kuala Lumpur-born Vina can handle, though, is the F1.
This will be her second year as an F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix grid girl and she cannot wait to get back to the grid.
“I’m very proud to be one of the 58 girls chosen this year.”
Speaking about being a grid girl, she said “People think it’s easy but it’s really not,” she said, adding that they (the girls) must ensure there’s a smile on their faces no matter what the weather condition.
“We are the luckiest as we get to be so close to the drivers and the race itself,” she said.
When she isn’t at work, Vina enjoys the quiet at home.
“I don’t go out much and I
prefer to relax at home,” said the fourth of six siblings.
The soft-spoken model has also tried her hands at acting.
“I acted in my first Malay drama when I was 14 years old,” she said.
It was there that a make-up artist encouraged her to go for casting.
Wedding bells are ringing for this full-time model, who plans to get hitched in May.
When not modelling, she sees herself helping her fiance with his business in the future.
