START your day by giving compliments to random people or by being nice to the person next to you.
These are some of the activities advocated and performed by Red FM staff members under its Random Act of Kindness programme.
Recently, the Red FM announcers hosted
15 children from the City Revival Boys and Girls Home in Subang Jaya for a movie screening.
The children, aged between two and 18, came from broken homes or needy families, or were brought in by welfare services.
“We have three workers who take care of the children. And the home operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We allocate RM16,000 for the expenses, which includes rental, food and bills. Luckily, the church provides for 80% of the costs,” said Kong Keng Piew, a management committee member.
According to him, the children were excited to spend time with the Red FM announcers.
“Red FM is glad to deliver an initiative that inspires these children.
“We believe that Red FM’s Random Act of Kindness will continue to be a great platform to spread positivity,” said Red FM announcer JJ.
The Random Act of Kindness initiative sees Red FM announcers setting good examples by carrying out different activities.
The hope is that this would help revive some of the values and practices that have long been forgotten.
Previously, the top five finalists of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 20 participated in Red FM’s Random Act of Kindness by showering LRT users with compliments.
Red FM has the highest total time spent listening (TSL) for listeners below 35 years old among all commercial English radio stations, with listeners spending a total of 10 hours and three minutes tuning in per week.
