JOHOR BARU: The streets of the Little India area in town lacked the crowd with many settling for smaller scale Ponggal celebrations this year due to an increase in price of goods.
Tuition teacher J. Dhanga, 35, said that she spent about RM100 just to purchase the essential items for the celebrations but said that she did not have a choice.
