EVERY charitable Malaysian who supported the Christmas Celebration-School Uniform Donation to Orphanages in the last few months has helped bring the spirit of joyous celebration to six charity homes.

Omega Leo Club of Southern Cross raised RM17,104 for Lotus Charity Home, Semenyih, Sweet Care Centre, Selayang, Rumah Victory, OUG, Rumah Victory Puchong, Good Samaritan Home, Klang and Waja Home, Klang, and the contributions have benefited more than 130 children.

Omega Leo Club of Southern Cross, formed by youths aged from 21 to 26 years old, has been working hard to raise funds for the past two months to buy school uniforms (shirt and pants or pinafore only) for children in three orphanages only.

Surprisingly, the day the members came together to calculate the total funds raised, they realised that the money raised was enough to sponsor six homes, and that they could afford more than just a shirt and a pair of pants or pinafore, but each child could have two sets of uniforms, socks, a pair of shoes, a bag, a water bottle, a handkerchief and a complete set of stationery.

Other than that, some other basic necessities and food were also donated to the homes.

In the true spirit of giving and sharing, Southern Cross adhered to the club’s slogan by fulfilling the wish of the children during Christmas.

The contributions gave the children from the homes a memorable event as they celebrated with fun and laughter.

“We are honoured to be part of creating happiness and giving the children an unforgettable experience. This is a humbling experience for us and it is good to see how people’s generosity can transform into life-changing experiences for others,” said Omega Leo Club of Southern Cross president Leo Yap Yee Yin.

The success of the campaign would not have been possible if not for the generosity and caring attitude of Malaysians.

The club would like to thank everyone for their charitable spirit and overwhelming response which made the first Christmas Celebration-School Uniform Donation to Orphanages campaign by the club a success.
