Roaring fun for motorbike lovers

THE ROAR of hundreds of motorcycle engines resonated from Istana Negara to Shah Alam City last weekend during the launch of the inaugural 2-Wheels Festival at Space U8 Shopping Mall.

The three-day motorbike festival was jointly organised by WSF Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Sangria Bikers and GS Bikers with support from the Tourism and Culture Ministry and Tourism Selangor, and co-sponsored by the Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders Association (Pekema). It was also held to usher in Visit Malaysia Year 2014 (VMY2014).

The festival’s event director Zaini Abd Aziz, also known as Zack, said other than showcasing different types of high-powered motorcycles, the festival that was attended by bikers from several clubs was also aimed at educating bikers.

“We received overwhelming support from visitors and exhibitors and we hope to hold it annually.

“In fact, we have already received bookings from exhibitors for the next festival,’’ he said.

WSF Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd managing director Wan Shairi said the indoor foyer of Space U8 saw 76 exhibition booths set up involving 50 companies, associations, accessory shops, media and related companies.

A total of 5,000 visitors attended the three-day event, including children. The admission fee of RM2 was donated to Yayasan Kanser Malaysia.

Among the exhibitors were G-Mart Corporation, Excellent Deal Motor, Zaibar Automobile Industries, AGV Helmet, Auto GLYM Malaysia, Powerzone Motorsport and Hamawangsa Bikes World.

There were also a number of travel agencies such as Sejati Global Travel & Tours and Berjaya Waterfront Hotel in Johor Baru which promoted their tour packages.

Other companies that took part were AIA-Public Takaful, Public Mutual, Bank Muamalat, KPJ Healthcare and KPJ Wellness Lifestyles.

There were musical performances by The Rocket, Electri5, Havoc, Backyardfellas and Tonawarna to entertain the crowd.

There were also daily lucky draw prizes up for grabs, including Reevu helmets, Hypergear pouch, Autoglym care product and several vouchers for a 3D/2N stay in Bali sponsored by WSF Travel & Tour.

The Fire and Rescue Department also took the opportunity to promote safety.

The event also featured special guest appearances by Moto3 hero Zulfahmi Khairuddin, who was accompanied by his former teammate Arthur Sissis and Moto3 rider Amirul Afiq Azmi,
