TOWARDS the end of last month, some 300 people gathered in a hall near Westminster Cathedral, London to eat, drink and raise money for the Harinder Veriah Trust.
A common enough event one might think, especially in a developed country where fundraisers have evolved into glittery celebrity-laden affairs — think Elton John’s Black & White Ball — which crown the city’s social calendar.
