Call to shut down illegal motels MCA leader: Rising number of buildings being converted into commercial units

THE local authorities must conduct a check to determine the exact number of build- ings which were illegally renovated to become budget motels, said Penang MCA secretary Lau Chiek Tuan.

“In light of fresh allegations over the rise of illegal conversion into budget accommodation, it is time for the Penang Municipal Council and the Seberang Prai Municipal Council to act before this matter goes out of control.
