THERE are about 17 types of tropical diseases that could be brought into the country through foreign workers.
The increased movement of people around the region seeking employment, both by legal and illegal workers, posed increased risks of spreading infections to the community, said Chenderiang assemblyman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon at the “Neglected Tropical Diseases: Challenges and Issues Faced in Achieving the Millenium Goal” forum at Tower Regency Hotel on Wednesday.
