Cautious optimism for pepper growers


KUCHING: Players in the pepper industry, especially the smallholders, have been reminded against being too complacent amid the strong global price growth of the commodity.

Plantation Industries and Commo­dities Minister Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas noted that the shortfall of supply against growing demands had contributed to the current strengthened price of around US$5,500 (around RM17,600) per metric tonne for black pepper.
