Sibu Bike Week returns this year with a bigger roar

SIBU: The annual 3rd Sibu Bike Week 2013 — International Event is set to be the grandest ever with the expected turnout of 1,500 participants.

Organising chairman Helen Khatijah said the event would take place at the town’s square this Dec 7, from 2pm onwards.

“This year’s event will be more interesting than the ones in the past events because we will not only have the usual Miss Sibu Bike Week pageant, but also the King and Queen Tattoo,” she told at a press conference here yesterday.

Organised by Razz Chop Motor Club, Helen said Bike Week would see participants from all over the country as well as those from the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia.

Second Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh is expected to launch the event.

Helen said the event would be a gathering of enthusiasts who were into high-powered motorbike as well as cars and automotive-related things, skateboards, BMX bicycles and also paintball.

“It aims to promote cars and motorcycles as hobbies and at the same time, to create comradeship among bikers in this region and across the globe.”

Yesterday, the Bike Week organising committee paid a courtesy call on Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King, who later pledged RM5,000 for the event.
