Boats for hire: Depending on the weather condition, short cruises are available for a minimal fee.
PEKAN: Visitors to the royal town of Pekan should not miss a chance to stop by the upgraded Pekan Riverfront.
Almost every weekend and late afternoon, the site will be packed with people seeking to unwind by gazing at the river.
The occasional breeze provides is cooling for couples and families, some of whom bring along their children for a picnic.
Food is available in abundance with makeshift stalls and a nearby food court, selling a host of delicacies including ice kacang and cendol.
Gazebos are available for those needing a rest after a stroll while rubbish bins have been placed in a few places to prevent people from littering.
In addition, the scenery is soothing to the eyes with rows of coconut trees and a big arch with the name of the site.
On certain days and depending on the weather, there are also short cruises available for a minimal fee.
Children and avid anglers can be seen bringing their fishing tools to try their luck at landing the various species of fish.
Abdullah Bakri, 50, said he would bring his family of five on weekends and school holidays for a picnic to spend some quality time together.
”I hope the local council will maintain the place and keep it clean and tidy to attract more visitors.
”There should be more activities held including public performances,” he said, adding that the location was good with ample parking space.
