Personal attention: A Da Ma Cai volunteer serving the families during the luncheon held following the aid presentation.
DA MA Cai helped to spread Deepavali joy to underprivileged families in Jalan Sentul, Kuala Lumpur recently as part of its continuous efforts to foster closer ties with the surrounding communities.
Seven Hindu families received shopping vouchers worth RM1,000 each under the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.
The vouchers are to be used to buy clothes and groceries.
Jayapregasam Ramiah, 54, said: “This will help lighten our financial burden during Deepavali.”
Single-mother Banu Nadaraja said, “I plan to buy clothes and foodstuff for my children.”
At the aid presentation ceremony, the families were also treated to lunch.
In conjunction with Deepavali, Da Ma Cai has donated a total of RM118,000 to 25 charity organisations nationwide. Among the beneficiaries are Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam, Shan Children’s Home, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram and Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah.
Each organisation received between RM3,000 and RM8,000.
