THE Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI) hopes to play a part in helping youths enrich themselves and giving them a platform to channel their talent and energy towards the development of the country.
In line with this vision, it organised the Innovative Youth, Future Business Leader seminar recently.
Organising committee chairman Datuk Ng Yih Pyng said youth, aged between 15 and 40, made up of one third of the Malaysian population.
“They have the characteristic and strength that our country needs to become more competitive globally,” he said in his speech at the seminar.
Ng said the seminar was organised with the aim of nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of youths as well as to promote racial harmony and national unity.
During the seminar, a panel discussion on “Innovation and Marketing Strategy” was held.
Guinness Anchor Berhad marketing director Bruce Dallas encouraged youths to believe in their innovations and to have resillence in pushing their ideas through.
He encouraged youths to “have a healthy disrespect for authorities”.
“However, have the courage to state your opinion and back your ideas with the necessary statistics and facts,” he said.
Other panellists present were AirAsia Berhad Commercial head Kenny Wong, CIMB Group marketing and communications head Effendy Shahul Hamid and Nestle Products Sdn Bhd Communications director Khoo Kar Khoon.
During a question-and-answer session with CIMB Bank executive director Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir, he was asked on his advice to fresh graduates who are interested in entreprenuership.
“They must be willing to face failures. Most people who are successful today had failed previously,” he added.
