KUCHING: Aggressive buying by dealers and exporters to fulfil orders, especially those coming from new overseas clients, has sent domestic pepper prices soaring to their highest levels this year.
Based on the Malaysian Pepper Board’s (MPB) daily published prices, Kuching Grade I white pepper has surged to RM27,250 per tonne from RM26,000 per tonne a month ago, an increase of RM1,250 per tonne or about 5%.
