Colourfu l launch: Faber-Castell Group of Companies chairman and CEO Count Anton Von Faber-Castell and Dr Toh at the Faber-Castell 35th anniversary showcase in Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya.
ONE of the world’s largest stationery manufacturers, Faber-Castell established its Malaysian operations in 1978 and commenced production of natural rubber and PVC-free erasers back in 1980.
Over the years, it has developed into one of the largest eraser manufacturers in the world producing more than 500 million pieces of erasers a year.
To mark its 35th year, Faber-Castell Malaysia organised a nationwide tour that started in May to engage consumers and showcase its products.
Speaking at the anniversary launch, Faber-Castell Asia-Pacific managing director Dr Toh Yan Peng said: “We are glad to see how Faber-Castell has evolved to become a well-loved stationery brand in Malaysia.
“We are proud of what we have accomplished in Malaysia so far, and we believe the success we enjoy today is because of the company’s motto of ‘doing ordinary things extraordinarily well’.”
Among the other significant milestones achieved was being the Official Supplier for stationery products to the 16th Common-wealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.
In 1993, a new factory was built in Subang Jaya near Kuala Lumpur.
To cope with its rapid development, Faber- Castell Malaysia moved into its latest factory in 2002.
It has a showroom, production and logistics facilities as well as Malaysia’s tallest pencil, measuring 19.75m in height.
