AT THE age of 25, Fumio Sakurai, like many expatriates, left his Tokyo hometown to venture into lands unknown to expand his world view.

Working in Mizuho Bank, Sakurai was first posted in Brussels, Belgian for close to five years, then Amsterdam, the Netherlands and back to Tokyo for eight years before coming to Malaysia in April last year as deputy chief executive officer in Mizuho Bank’s Malaysian subsidiary.
