The 15 finalists vying for the Miss Malaysia Indian Global 2013 title tonight.
Fifteen contestants of the
Miss Malaysia Indian Global (MMIGLOBAL) 2013 will be vying for the title at the pageant’s grand finals in Hilton Petaling JayaJ tonight.
A round trip to Europe as well as a 3D/2N holiday package from Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan await the winner.
The first runner-up will win a round trip to Taiwan while the second runner-up will go to Cochin, India. The third and fourth runners-up will be rewarded with round trips to Hanoi, Vietnam.
The 15 finalists were shortlisted from 207 applicants who went through three elimination rounds over the past three months.
The first elimination round was held in August.
Sixty girls were shortlisted for the next round, which was the talent round, last month.
Subsequently, only 25 girls were shortlisted for the final round, which was the Community & Environment Awareness Programme in Sungai Sedim, Kedah.
A total of 40% of the scores of the 15 finalists will be taken from these three rounds.
Miss Malaysia Indian Global founder T. Puspharani said, “The programme anchors itself on the belief that an informed and balanced woman is an asset to her family, community and society at large.
“In MMIGLOBAL where you come from is not as important as where you are going. We believe that decisions today determines a person’s tomorrow.”
The 14th edition of the pageant will also be a fundraising event for the Gift Her With Life Fund, which is managed by the Miss MalaysiaIndia Care Association (MMICARE Associa-tion). The association carries out a wide range of community activities through the fund.
Among the 15 finalists is 22-year-old Hong Mai Yeng@ Priya, who is of Chinese-Indian parentage.
“Our pageant is truly Malaysian, over the years, we have had many mixed race finalists.
“As long as they have parents or grandparents who are Indian, we allow them to participate,” Puspharani said.
Miss Malaysia Indian Global 2012 Harnesh Kaur said it had been a privilege to hold the title for the past year.
She hoped the finalists would be role models and a source of inspiration to other young women.
