NUSAJAYA: In a bid to set a national record as the largest mobile breast cancer awareness campaign, six mobile clinic buses will be touring the country to reach out to women for a clinical breast examination.
The campaign will be conducted simultaneously at six different locations nationwide daily throughout the month to provide women with free breast examinations in the mobile clinics.
During the campaign conducted at Mydin Mall here, over one hundred women registered for the free check-up by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN).
LPPKN assistant information officer Haniza Che Hasan said Johor had shown an increase in the number of women registered for clinical breast examination over the past years.
“More and more are getting aware of the importance for a check-up, especially those above 40 years old,” she said when met during the campaign at the Mydin Mall here on Oct 5.
She added that LPPKN would continue to offer subsidies to those in need as women responded positively to a check-up when they were given subsidies.
Organised by Avon Malaysia in collaboration with the LPPKN and Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd,
the campaign is conducted in conjunction with the Pink October Month.
Avon Cosmetic (M) Sdn Bhd art and marketing director Mahzuin Mahmood said the official launch for the campaign was held in Subang, Selangor on Oct 5.
“Simultaneously, breast examinations were also conducted in Johor Baru, Perak, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak on the same day,” she told reporters.
Mahzuin added that the six buses would travel to a total of 48 locations around the country to reach out to thousands of women in need of a breast examination.
“Since many women are too busy to drop by a clinic to a check-up, we decided to bring the clinic to them,” she said adding that Avon targeted to examine at least 100 women at each location.
