THE Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) is tackling the food waste and pest problem on the island with the introduction of composting machines in wet markets.
MPPP Public Health Standing Committee alternate chairman Ong Ah Teong said food waste was one of the leading factors attracting pests, especially rats.
