Robust growth: Hu (second from left) entertaining queries from visitors at the Kuching roadshow.
KUCHING: Miri is primed for what is perhaps its most significant facelift of the decade, the landmark Miri Waterfront transformation project.
The undertaking will see the development of a five-star luxury hotel, a modern 18-storey high rise apartment suites, and 10 units of super-sized shophouses to be completed by the middle of 2015, with a total gross development value (GDV) of RM450mil.
Unique Harvests Sdn Bhd project director Alice Hu said the mega project, located on a five-acre (about 2ha) site near the rivermouth along the Miri Waterfront, would complement the city’s reputation as one of the country’s robust growth areas.
She said construction for the entire development was taking place concurrently and to date, piling works had been completed for the hotel and apartments.
“The construction is now up to level two for both blocks. The location of the project is the best as it is within the city, particularly with the Marina township expansion as well as a truck road coming up and to be completed around the same time,” she said.
More than 50% of the suites had been taken up by buyers from here, Miri, Limbang, Sibu and Brunei, she told reporters at the project property roadshow here yesterday.
The 18-storey private strata-titled suites are called The Wharf. It is a 99-year leasehold private development encompassing all three-bedroom detached and semi-detached units from the sixth floor onwards, offering modern lifestyle facilities on the fifth floor such as swimming pool, a sky garden — the first in Miri, a gymnasium and aerobics room, multi-purpose hall, pool deck and barbeque section.
Each suite, occupying between 1,531sq ft to 1,760sq ft, will be semi-furnished and is priced between RM926,888 and RM1,091,688, depending on its location.
The hotel, on the other hand, consists of 328 spacious rooms and suites, and will include facilities such as a ballroom with a seating capacity of up to 1,000, six function rooms complete with modern meeting facilities, a signature infinity pool with a pool deck and children’s pool, a private spa with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, a gymnasium, food and beverage outlets including a coffee house with modern open buffet concept and a private lounge on the top floor.
“The design of the hotel is modern and contemporary whereby the focus is not only on luxury but also on guests’ comfort. Once completed, the hotel will be the tallest building in Miri and this will definitely change the city’s landscape,” Hu said.
Unique Harvests is a subsidiary of Interhill Group of Companies. The project roadshow still runs today at Pullman Hotel from 10am to 7pm.
