ONE of the top jewellers in the country, Tomei Consolidated Bhd, celebrated its 45th anniversary on a grand scale recently.
Tomei, meaning “very beautiful” in Chinese, has become a prosperous business venture in the country and this was reflected at the event held at Imperial Ballroom, One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.
Among those present were The Federation of Chinese Association Malaysia Huazong president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah and The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia president Datuk Lim Kok Cheong.
Tomei managing director Datuk Ng Yih Pyng thanked the group executive chairman Tan Sri Ng Teck Fong for his perseverance and determination in pioneering the business and successfully developeing the household jewellery name — Tomei.
“From a small-scale manufacturer of jewellery, we have evolved and ventured into many business segements, including design, wholesale, retail and the export of gold and jewellery,” said Ng
“We have also introduced different retail brand names to cater to different niche markets.
“Early this year, we brought the world-renowned diamond brand, De Beers, to Malaysia.”
He added that these initiatives had also helped to enrich the human capital in the company.
“Through our dedication and commitment to the business, we have gained the loyalty of employees, with many dedicated to their careers with us,
“The company presented awards to long-serving employees, between five and 25 years, recently,” said Ng.
The company first started its business in jewel refining and manufacturing, embarking on the retailing business in 1968.
The group was listed in Bursa Malaysia in 2006.
The company has won several awards and accolades, such as obtaining the ISO 9001:2008 quality certification and was marked as a reputable brand in the country.
Tomei has a total o f 72 retail outlets in Malaysia, China and Vietnam.
The company has five retail jewellery brands — Tomei Gold and Jewellery, My Diamond, Goldheart, Le Lumiere and De Beers.
