ART collectors in Penang can view some stunning artworks which will be auctioned off at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur on Sept 21.
A three-day sneak preview fea-turing 45 out of the 99 artworks is being held at Island Gallery, 6, Phuah Hin Leong Road, from today.
It will be from 10am till 7pm.
Organised by KL Lifestyle Art Space (KLAS), the Malaysian and Asian Modern & Contemporary Art Auction 2013 will feature masterpieces by Malaysian masters and some emerging contemporary artists.
Among the artworks to be displayed are those by Ahmad Shukri, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Kow Leong Kiang, Ismail Latiff and Peter Liew.
The masterpieces of Asian masters such as Jeihan Sukmantoro, Zao Wou-Ki, Lucien Frits Ohl and Zhao Shao’ang will also be displayed
Not to be left out are artworks by local artists such as Latiff Mohiddin, Khalil Ibrahim, Jolly Koh, Yusof Ghani, and Cheong Lai Tong.
KLAS chief executive officer Datuk Gary Thanasan said he expected Latiff Mohidin’s ‘Mindscape’ to breach the RM 250,000 mark.
“There will also be five artworks by Ibrahim Hussein with a starting price of between RM8,000 and RM240,000.
“This is a good opportunity for new collectors to own an Ibrahim masterpiece,” he said in a press statement.
Other key art pieces to look out for are two watercolour works by Chinese master Zhao Shao’ang acquired by Christie’s Hong Kong in 2006 and several masterpieces by Khalil Ibrahim.
