SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) has been urged to exempt owners of houses burnt in the June 19 fire in Jalan Kampung Datu from paying assessment rates.
Councillor Abang Iskandar, in making this call at the council meeting yesterday, said the exemption was logical because the houses no longer existed and the victims were now experiencing hardship.
