Adnan Yaakob flagging-off the participants in the “Jalur Gemilang” flags campaign in Bandar Jengka Pusat, Maran.
MARAN: The people’s excessive demand for human rights can lead to chaos and uncertainties, like what is happening in Egypt.
Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said what is happening in Egypt is an example of too much demand and worship of the “human rights” concept.
“Freedom is our right. However, there is also a limit to any kind of freedom.
“In our country it could lead to what is happenening in other countries if too much freedom is given to the citizens.
“There will be less mutual understanding if all the people are only thinking of their own freedom without having thoughts for the freedom of others as well,” Adnan said while launching the state level Jalur Gemilang campaign here.
He said what we are enjoying now in Malaysia is the result of Goverment’s efforts to see that there was peace and harmony to see that the citizens of this country live happily.
“As a citizen, we have to abide by the Law and Order of the country which is for the good of the people.
“Changes that we want should suit the needs and progess of the country and not to suit just a few individuals,” he said.
Some 1,000 people of all walks of life attended the ceremony comprising non-governmental organisations in conjunction with the Merdeka Day on Aug 31.
