MIRI: The Astro Radio is offering different conceptualised segments to suit local flavours through its three stations namely ERA, Hitz.FM and MY.FM.
According to its chief executive officer Dr Jake Abdullah, the expansion to Sarawak and Sabah means a gradual change in segments to make the broadcast more suitable to local listeners.
“We believe with the localised segments, it will take us closer to our listeners here and at the same time, provide an opportunity for advertisers to reach out to their target audience,” he told reporters here during the launch of the stations here yesterday.
Similarly, he added, it would give equal opportunity for Astro to develop the local economy as well as to unveil more new talents.
Apart from radio broadcast, Jake said there would be more variety events including concerts to be held here.
“The new platform will help us reach out to the people, with easy access whether through the apps, Internet or radio. The outlook for Sarawak and Sabah seems to be very optimistic.”
Meanwhile, Astro Radio chief commercial officer TH Chong said based on statistics, 560,000 combined listeners in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu have been tuning in to the radio since the set up of the stations in these two cities.
“The number shows a positive quantum of growth. Hence, we are looking at it as an opportunity to expand the (Astro) brand here together with more business plans for Sarawak and Sabah,” he said.
