Say cheese!: A young Nikon fan getting a feel of the Nikon D700 while his siblings wait their turn.
IN THE spirit of Ramadan, Nikon took on a different approach in organising its regular photography walkabout.
To commemorate the holy month, a special Nikon Ramadan Walkabout was held nationwide exclusively for its fellow Nikon Club members to capture significant moments of this important event.
While Nikon’s Walkabout events usually take on a more serious approach where participants compete against each other, the Ramadan Walkabout was held as a family event where participants and their loved ones enjoyed some time out together to literally walk about while capturing the images of Malaysians from all walks of life at Ramadan bazaars around the country.
Nikon consumer products and marketing general manager David Ng said: “The Ramadan Walkabout is one event where family members were able to join participants.
“The Ramadan Walkabout aimed to provide time to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and the multi-cultural practices in Malaysia.”
Held for three weeks during Ramadan, the event took place in nine cities and towns, namely Kuantan, Kota Baru, Kuala Terengganu, Dungun, Kuching, Johor Baru, Kota Kinabalu, Alor Setar and Ipoh.
The walkabout received good response, with a turnout of 80 to 120 members (excluding family members).
Participants were seen gathering at about 5pm and the air of excitement was evident.
The sea of participants in Nikon green T-shirts went from place to place to capture interesting shots.
To capture the essence of Ramadan bazaars, participants discussed and shared tips and ideas on getting the right picture, from angle focus to choosing the right lens.
“Nikon believes that festive moments of various races form a strong integral part of what Malaysia is today, and has since held events like the Ramadan Walkabout for Nikon members as a testament to that belief,” said Ng.
