Timely help: Tengku Adnan talking with the fire victims at the Taman Ibu Kota community hall.
SIXTY-two squatter families whose houses were razed in a fire during the Hari Raya celebration recently have been given units in the Bukit Jalil People’s Housing Project (PPR).
The families, 42 from Kampung Chubadak, Gombak and 20 families from Kampung Cempedak, Sentul, were also given RM800 per family as a goodwill gesture.
A total of RM500 was given by the Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor while the Federal Territories Foundation gave RM300.
Tengku Adnan has also asked Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to ensure there was electricity and water supply at the units before the families moved in.
The residents who lost their homes in a fire on Aug 8 and 11, had to put up at Taman Ibu Kota community hall and the Sentul community hall for the past two weeks.
