Sarawak state needs to study dams and how they impact environment, says don


KUCHING: Sarawak should carry out long-term, comprehensive research on dams and their environmental and social impact in view of the state’s hydropower development plans.

According to Prof Dr Lau Seng (pic), a professor of environmental chemistry at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), the Bakun and Murum dams present a unique opportunity for the state to conduct in-depth research.
