SIBU: Starting Jan 1 next year, all eateries, including school canteens, industrial canteens, coffeeshops, restaurants and even hawkers at food fairs, are prohibited from using styrofoam containers to store food.
Those caught flouting the rule will be penalised, and with this, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is the first local authority to restrict the use of such containers.
