Lawyer joins forces with organisation to empower women

FOR civil law and syariah law practitioner Nizam Bashir Abdul Kariem Bashir, issues on fundamental liberties have always held a special draw for him.

As such, the 39-year-old regularly volunteers to serve Sisters in Islam (SIS), a non-governmental organisation that aims to promote the principles of gender equality, justice, freedom and dignity in Islam, as well as em­po­swer women to be advocates for change.
