RACING enthusiasts are in for an exhilarating time, as 10 Formula One (F1) cars are
currently on display at Gurney
Plaza in Penang in conjunction with its GP Motorshow 2013 ending Sunday.
The gleaming speed machines, bedecked in colourful livery, are actual cars used in Malaysian F1 races of years past, and proved a hit with shoppers who snapped away with their cameras and smartphones when the event kicked off yesterday.
The mall’s marketing communications manager Peter Chan said its annual motorshow had always been timed to coincide with the F1 race in Sepang, the second race of the season which falls on March 24 this year.
“This is the ideal time to showcase these cars and get people hyped up. We want our shoppers to experience something special and exclusive, other than just a regular auto roadshow.
“We are the only venue in the northern region to feature these cars, and it is a rare opportunity
not to be missed, to see them up close with your own eyes,” Chan said.
Apart from the F1 cars, the motorshow also features a wide variety of automobiles from renowned manufacturers like BMW, Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Subaru, Honda, Mercedes, Nissan and Ford, with attractive deals and prices.
Visitors will be entertained by the event’s celebrity hosts — Ean from Hitz FM and Patricia K of FHM’s Top 100 Most Wanted Women fame — who will crack witty jokes and conduct exciting activities.
Tomorrow, a Motor King and Queen 2013 pageant will be held at 3pm. Finalists will parade on the runway and pose with the F1 cars, as they vie for cash and prizes worth around RM4,000.
Shoppers are not left out, as
those who spend RM300 and above in a single receipt may redeem a Formula One RC Car, limited to the first 90 shoppers. Terms and conditions apply.
The mall is also giving away a
pair of tickets to the F1 race in Sepang to shoppers who swipe
their HSBC Credit Cards for purchases of RM400 and above in a single receipt on Sunday, limited to the first 30.
A Car Modification Competition
at the Kelawei Entrance on Sunday evening will close the
event, organised in partnership
with Kenlink Advertising, Sepang International Circuit and Petronas.
