World famous author to grace function

CELEBRATED British author Jung Chang and her academic and writing partner - husband Jon Halliday will be the guests of a literary dinner in their honour in George Town.

The event at Peranakan restaurant Kebaya at Seven Terraces, at 7.30pm on Sunday, will be their only public appearance in Malaysia.

Both authors will read from their books and speak of their experiences writing their novels, and dinner guests will be able to have their books autographed.

Chang’s 1992 best-seller Wild Swans tells of the experiences of three generations of Chang’s family. It touched the hearts of millions of readers worldwide, especially those in Asia.

The 2005 Mao: The Unknown Story, also a best-seller, is based on historical records and Chang’s personal experiences living through the most tumultuous years of Mao Zedong’s China.

Seven Terraces is Penang’s latest boutique hotel in Stewart Lane, comprising seven restored shophouses in the heart of George Town.

The dinner, featuring the signature dishes of Kebaya restaurant in a four-course menu at RM150 per person, is limited to just 40 diners.

For tickets to the event, call Seven Terraces at 04-2642333.
