THE cool, soothing offerings of D’ Fahrenheit Yogurt, combined with its hot and spicy character, are just the right ingredients for a pleasurable time.
Located along Farquhar Street (below Penang Bowl), the intimate café is notable for its sassy, feminine themed décor, along with a modest menu of delectable treats featuring yogurt in one form or another.
Run by sisters Eiudnese and Tiffany Teh, it opened in November last year and has become a rather popular hang-out spot among the fairer sex, as well as couples seeking to indulge healthily and while the hours away.
Conceived as an alternative meeting place to bars and pubs, the atmosphere here is serene, cosy, and great for conversation. Punchy colours, poems and mannequins add a whimsical, but lively touch.
Menu highlights include the selection of liquor-infused homemade frozen yogurt available in many flavours and served as single portion cakes with crumb-based crusts.
A bestseller is the Black Cherry Wine, whose deep, carmine hues are a perfect match to its heart-shaped appearance. Fruity with a touch of tartness, the frozen portions make for an interesting mouth feel with the crumbly base layer.
The Peach White Wine is no slouch either, brimming with vibrant but lighter flavours. Other options include the Exotic Durian, Chocolate Rum, Yogurt Cheese and Jackfruit Lemon Zest, along with the Long Island Tea and Passion Fruit sorbet yogurt variants.
Apart from the frozen variety, the café also offers soft serve premium yogurt in flavours like Blue Martini, Mojito, Vodka Lychee and Pina Colada. Finish them off with your toppings of choice.
“The liquor complements the yogurt nicely. It enhances the taste and is not overpowering. Each flavour incorporates lots of ingredients and we only make limited quantities each day,” Eiudnese said.
Yogurt is also a prominent ingredient in the café’s array of snacks and main dishes, with a favourite being the German Sausage Yogurt, drizzled with a titillating chili and apple sauce.
There is also the Fish Fillet Yogurt, Barbeque Chicken Yogurt, and Best Kisser Noodles – a hot, eight-spice concoction that is bound to set your lips alight. For snacking, give the Prawn Potato Yogurt and Mussel Cheese Yogurt, a try.
D’ Fahrenheit recently introduced its Yogurt Fondue – in which guests can dip a variety of seafood and other morsels. A new signature item that is a spin on the regular cheese or chocolate offerings, it is bound to leave the taste buds dripping with delight.
In line with its healthy eating concept, the eatery also offers several fresh fruit juice concoctions, like the refreshing, Hawaiian Tropical Engagement.
In conjunction with Valentine’s Day, the café is currently giving couples, be it boyfriends and girlfriends or husband and wife, a complimentary chocolate rum for any dine in, main course until March 15.
The couple will have their photos taken and tagged in D’ Fahrenheit’s Facebook page, with the most popular one by public voting standing to win a prize of RM200 cash, a bouquet of roses, cute teddy, box of imported chocolates and love card.
They will also have their photo creatively framed up and get to enjoy the Yogurt Fondue for two, at a time of their choosing.
The café is open daily from 11.30am to 10pm daily. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/DFahrenheitYogurt,or call 016-3283479 for reservations.
