Vital to upgrade worker skills

Companies incorporated in Malaysia that have registered with HRDF and pay the HRD levy are eligible to apply for training grants to defray all or a major portion of the allowable costs of training their employees.

HRDF says the skilled workforce in the country has not improved in tandem with the economy, and it would like to change this.

The training industry is facing a slowdown following the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) but Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) chief executive C.M Vignaesvaran believes that this is just a small blip in the greater scheme of things.
