THE islands off Semporna on Sabah’s east coast have always fascinated me. Reports of kidnappings has never really deterred me from returning, particularly to Mabul.

Perhaps the friendship and trust I forged with these islanders, mainly Bajau, and trusted guides from my diving years decades ago, brings me back to these islands again and again.
