In the 1980s: Pop group Freedom (from left) Mat Noor, singer Seha, guitarist Abdul Ghani Karim, singer/drummer Shuaib Shaari and keyboardist Richard Gomis.

Datuk Mohd Noor started playing bass in the 1980s pop group Freedom. The group had catchy pop hits like Mulanya Di Sini (with the rousing Sama-sama chorus) and was fronted by the late Seha.

Mohd Noor (who used the name Mat Noor back then) said Freedom had an energy and chemistry when they played together.
