Have funds for safety features in next year’s budget, urges Lee

Lee supports DBKL’s objectives but says it should also ensure that all development plan applications include the concept of crime prevention.

KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) should have included safe city as one of its priorities for next year’s budget. Former DBKL advisory board member Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, who is also Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) vice-chairman, said the local authority should play a pivotal role in crime prevention.

“I am not saying that Kuala Lumpur is not safe. While I support all the other objectives, DBKL should also ensure that all development plan applications include the concept of crime prevention through environmental design to ensure a safer city.
