No oil royalty rise, but Adenan in firm control


SIBU: While the failure of the state to seek an increase in oil royalty may not help Barisan Nasional’s performance in the forthcoming election, the success of obtaining more self-rule in areas of education, immigration and authority to implement priority projects may compensate for this disappointment.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem in a question-and-answer session on TV3 on Wednesday night revealed that his negotiations with the Federal Government to raise oil royalty had hit a snag.
