Deaths related to dengue on the rise in Pahang

KUANTAN: The total number of deaths due to dengue fever in Pahang rose by nearly 400% to five deaths between Jan 1 and June 28, compared to just one death in the corresponding period last year.State Health director Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said dengue cases also increased by 121% to 1,248 cases from 564 cases in the same period last year.

He said Kuantan recorded the highest number of dengue cases with 778 cases, followed by Temerloh (167), Jerantut (102), Maran (53), Raub (47), Bera (41), Bentong (18), Lipis (16), Rompin (14), Pekan (11) and Cameron Highlands (one case).
