JOAS wants state governments to discuss on commercial projects before green light

MIRI: The Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS) wants a federal law to be drafted to compel state governments to get the prior consent of native communities in places earmarked for commercial or industrial projects.

JOAS secretariat director Jannie Lasimbang said that presently there was lack of consultation between state government and local indigenous people when it came to development of mega projects on land where the natives lived on.
