THE sight of four cousins who had 80 hooks pierced on their backs pulling a two-tonne chariot kavadi bearing a mixture of Hindu and Chinese deities was certainly captivating.

The 6.4m-high kavadi featured Lord Anjaneyar, Lord Shiva and Goddess Sivasakthi, and several other deities including two Kuan Yin statues.
