River and drains to be deepened

Wet misery: Residents and motorists checking out the flood situation in Taman Jambu in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, which was inundated after an early morning downpour on Tuesday.

MONSOON drains and the river in Machang Bubok, Bukit Mertajam, will be deepened to prevent another deluge in the area.

Machang Bubok assemblyman Lee Khai Loon said the recent flood was caused by a shallow Sungai Machang Bubok.
