Pots of green gold

Green heritage: Tourists walking along Carnarvon Street, now lined with pots of young Evodia, placed under the 1Shop 1Pot Campaign in Penang.

KNOWN in Chinese as it tong jing (a pot of gold) or puding emas, Evodia is an ornamental shrub with dense clumps of stringy leaves in shades of green and yellow.

There are now 80 pots of young Evodia lining the pedestrian walkways on both sides of Carnarvon Street — courtesy of Penang Island City Council (MBPP).
