A three-day Chinese opera show was held to mark the birthday of the Goddess of Mercy Kuan Yin on the 19th day of the second month of the lunar calendar. But there was not a single patron at the opening show at the Kuan Yin Temple in Parit, Perak.

Sitting in a makeshift tent amid the rows of empty chairs, the temple caretaker, who wanted to be known only as Lam, said that was expected.
