Village identity restored with coffee trees

A goodwill gesture: Dr Mah (centre) handing out coffee trees and fertilisers to New Kopisan residents in Gopeng.

RESIDENTS of New Kopisan in Gopeng have planted 100 coffee trees in hopes of living up to the name of their village.

Unlike the former Kopisan, which literally means “coffee hill” in Hokkien, the current location of the new village does not have any coffee trees.
