Bountiful red prawn harvest provides good source of income for villagers

Bountiful harvest: Fishermen arriving home with good catch of the red prawn.

THE onset of the dry season is a blessing in disguise for fishermen in Pulau Bruit, Daro District, as they are now enjoying bountiful harvest of red prawn from the South China Sea.

Every fisherman who goes out to the sea would come back with a happy face as he can catch up to 100kg of the prawn which is also known as “payak” by the predominantly Melanau community there.
