Lorong Utara Kecil now a two-way street

Lorong Utara Kecil reverts to being a two-way street

Lorong Utara Kecil in Section 52, Petaling Jaya, is back to being a two-way street.

The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) public relations officer Zainun Zakariah said the council had decided that the route was suitable to be two-way, based on their findings since the implementation of the one-way-loop (OWL) system on Oct 12 last year.

Motorists coming from Jalan Utara can now enter via Lorong Utara Kecil and head to the Astaka field as well as exit via this lane towards Jalan Timur.

“This lane is not heavily utilised all the time. So the council felt it was suitable to be made into a two-way street,” she said.

When StarMetro contacted St Paul Church spokesman John Thia, he said initially the council allowed the church to use the route as a two-way street only on Sundays.

However, the new decision by the council was highly welcomed.

The Istara Condo Management Corp chairman Swinder Singh was thankful over the council’s decision to revert the route as two-ways.

“We no longer have to drive along the entire loop to return home if we are coming from Section 14.

“This will also make it easier for residents to send their children to the nearby schools and return home without having to pass Jalan Sultan or the Federal Highway."
