Orang asli communities unhappy with livelihood compensations

About 19 orang asli from two villages in Slim River have submitted a memorandum to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate a compensation proposal presented to them for chopping down trees to establish electrical transmission connections.

Perak Orang Asli Development Cooperatives Bhd adviser A. C. Ramesh, who spoke on behalf of the orang asli from the Kuala Bill and Sungai Bill villages, said they were not given fair compensation and questioned the formula used to pay them.
